Nevada lithium water issue

Nevada lithium water issue (27 January 2010, Industrial Minerals)

 

The potential for new lithium brine projects in Nevada’s Clayton Valley has been thrown into doubt after Chemetall GmbH revealed to IM it owns all the water rights for the area.

The German lithium chemicals producer, which produces 700-1,000 tpa lithium carbonate from Silver Peak in the valley, explained that companies drilling in the area would have to be cleared by Chemetall before starting production from brine.
